Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome

The story of trauma in our bodies…

In Chinese Medicine, we believe that the layers of the body can hold both physical and emotional trauma. This can impact several of the body systems/energies in Chinese Medicine: the Wei Qi (the protective qi/our immune system), the Sinew Channels (or myofasical systems), the Luo-connecting vessels (the secondary channels that support daily flow of blood and qi), the 8-extra vessels (the channels that support our DNA and genetic lineage) and the Divergent Channels (the channels that protect the internal organs from disease).

Essentially, the body takes the trauma from us and stores it within the body system. The body holds the trauma latent, to protect us, to help us move forward. As the traumas build, they are pushed deeper and deeper into the system. Holding the trauma latent requires a significant amount of energy. If unaddressed and the body becomes weaker, it can no longer hold the trauma. The body systems start to break down under the weight of the trauma and the once stagnant energy scatters throughout our system, which can cause a multitude of illnesses.

If you’re struggling with PTSD, you may be experiencing: flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, adverse physical symptoms like pain or trembling or sweating, and intense distress. Getting support for PTSD is important to the totality of your health and wellness. Professional support can include Behavioral/Mental Health Counseling, EMDR, Support Groups and Acupuncture. Self support can include Meditation, Journaling, Creative Outlets, Physical Activity, Aromatherapy, Social Groups, Breathwork, and Creating a Safe Space.

I’ve created a library of free meditations based on Taoism. The meditations include Transform the Emotions, The Wu Shen (Five Spirits), The Hun and Shen (Send Back Bring Back) and The Tan Tiens (Energy Elixir Fields). Gain Access by using the link below.
